Our Mission

The mission of the PV Education program is to inspire and prepare knowledgeable and professional educational leaders who advocate for positive change within diverse communities.  We are dedicated to developing collaborative relationships while engaging students through rigorous and relevant learning-centered opportunities.

PVCC EDU not only offers a degree and career path, but the opportunity to truly make a positive change in the world around us.

Here in the Education department we foster and equip our teacher candidates with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to implement ever-lasting change in their future classrooms and communities. Every EDU class is learner-centered and includes active student engagement.  All classes include field trips, service learning, guest presenters, presentations, and more!

Additionally, the Education department offers a multitude of opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community. From High School Outreach and  Structured Autism events to Future Educators Conferences and the Festival of Tales, these activities will enrich your life personally, academically, and professionally.

Northern Arizona University offers a dual major in Elementary and Special Education on the Paradise Valley Community College campus. You can complete your associate’s degree and admissions requirements through PVCC. Then you can complete your NAU courses right here on PVCC campus!

The NAU courses for this program are held in the evenings. NAU offers a variety of education programs throughout Maricopa. To learn more schedule an appointment with Erin McGehean.

The University of Arizona is located a couple of hours south of here in Tucson with an undergraduate enrollment surpassing 30,000. Despite the large size, the UA broadens your horizon in a cozy, college town atmosphere. We offer over 115 degree programs and many are nationally ranked including health sciences, business, engineering, and fine arts. There is a lot of green space on campus; it is sometimes easy to forget that you’re in Arizona.
