Need CELSA Placement Testing?
The Combined English Language Skills Assessment (CELSA) is for students who wish to enroll in an English as a Second Language (ESL) course at PVCC. This placement test evaluates your current English language skills and determines the proper courses that will help you be successful.
The CELSA is a computerized test consisting of 75 multiple choice questions. It is written in English and you will have 45 minutes to complete the test. The test does not have any audio or speaking portions.
How do I take the test?
The test is available on a walk-in basis at the Union Hills campus. We strongly encourage students to arrive at least one hour prior to closing. This will ensure you have enough time to test.
Please bring a current, valid photo ID and your PVCC student ID number when you come to the Testing Center. All exams will be collected promptly at closing.

You will receive your scores immediately after testing. Your scores will also be posted in your Student Center so that you can register for classes. Scores are valid for two years.
You are allowed two retests in a two-year period. The first retest can occur 24 hours or later from the first exam. The second retest can occur three months or later from the first exam.
