Puma Power Up - The New Student Experience

You’re first stop to academic success is attending the Puma Power Up advising session. All new students are required to attend this informational program, as well as New Student Orientation, both of which are designed to help support your transition to PVCC.


Step 1

To complete Step One click here then submit proof of approved photo identification to PVCC Admissions & Records. If you are under 18 years of age you will need to submit a one-time Financial Responsibility Form.

Step 2

Students can use multiple placement options to determine the starting point for college classes. Placement testing is needed for new students pursuing college degrees and helps the new student advising team make course recommendations for 1st-semester classes.

Step 3

Use the button below “Request Online Tutorial” to request access to the online tutorial. A staff member for the new student advising team will follow up on your request. Information and details will be sent to your student email inbox.

Step 4

The online tutorial in Canvas is self-paced which allows you to complete it on your time. The tutorial guides new students through important information about majors, student center navigation, paying for college, academic requirements along with several other important topics related to starting college. The tutorial is organized into modules and will allow you to progress once you complete the full module.

Step 5

Students will be connected to a virtual advising session to sign up for their 1st semester classes, new student orientation, and the college success courses. The primary virtual format is in Google hangouts and invitations will be sent to the student email inbox once the online tutorial is completed.
