Dr. Amina Simmons also known as “Dr. A,” obtained her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami. She also holds a master's degree in Educational and Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Africana Studies from Pomona College.
Experienced as a researcher, clinician, academician, and college administrator with diverse populations across various settings, Dr. A is a licensed psychologist who is credentialed as both a National Register Health Service Psychologist (HSP) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II). In her role as Associate Dean, Dr. A also contributes through her participation on community boards and councils for The Salvation Army Metro Phoenix, George Gervin Preparatory Academy, and Vitalant.
Applying a strengths-based model of partnership, Dr. A is committed to fostering an environment of support within higher education, evidenced through her mentoring, civic engagement, and servant leadership. Operating with the conviction that collaborative conversations actualize change, Dr. A believes we deserve EXCELLENCE from one another.
