Important Note Regarding Degrees

  • AAS - Fire Science (3205) is the degree used for all new fire science students beginning their degree pursuit in the Fall 2020 semester and after.  This is the new Fire Science associate's degree as of August 2020, therefore any student pursuing fire science beginning in the Fall 2020 semester and after will fall under this new curriculum.
  • Students who began their fire science degree pursuit prior to Fall 2020 and were pursuing an AAS - Emergency Response & Operations track, but had a break in enrollment at the community college district for three (3) straight semesters will lose their catalog protection and will now fall under the new curriculum, thus requiring the student to pursue the new AAS - Fire Science (3205) degree.
  • AAS - Emergency Response & Operations (3112) is for students who began their fire science degree pursuit prior to the Fall 2020 semester and have not had a break in enrollment.  These students who have continued taking courses towards their degree without a break in enrollment STILL are eligible to complete and petition for the Emergency Response & Operations degree at this time.  These students may also pursue the new fire science degree if they so choose.
  • AAS - Fire Service Management (3207) replaces the previous AAS - Fire Service Professional (3064) degree, and is for current professional firefighters only.
  • AAS - Paramedicine (3889) requires acceptance into and completion of the Paramedic Education training program.
  • There is no EMT associate's degree, only a certificate of completion is available for EMT - please see the Certificates Offered page for more info.
