Director- Jenny Hall, M.S.John Douglass

Professor Jenny Hall loves the power of the night sky, the openness of the universe, and the sense of peace that you get when you look up. She is dedicated to achieving community engagement in ​science and exploration, and has taught astronomy at Paradise Valley Community College since 2010.

Jenny worked diligently to obtain a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree with High Honors in Physics from Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Her subsequent disciplined graduate research in cosmology earned her an M.S. in Physics from the University of California at Davis.

She currently teaches AST112: Introduction to Stars and Galaxies in person, AST101/102: Survey of Astronomy online, and the AST294AB: Honors Explores Telescope Camping Trip.

Director- John Douglass, Ph.D.John Douglass

John Douglass is in his fifth year as an Honors Director at PVCC, and eleventh year teaching at Paradise Valley Community College. He currently teaches the honors hybrid section of GPH 111, two sections of the Honors Lecture Forum, one online sections of GPH 211 Landform Processes, and an in person section of GCU 221 Arizona Geography.

John earned his doctorate from Arizona State University in Geography, Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in Rural Geography, and Bachelor’s from Northern Arizona University in Geography and a minor in Geology. When he is not teaching he enjoys hiking with his puppy dog, playing D&D, and disc golf.

Program Coordinator - Kimberlee Steen, B.S.Kimberlee Steen

Kimberlee Steen serves as the Honors Program Coordinator. She is a PVCC Honors Program graduate and graduated from ASU in December 2021 with her Bachelor of Science in Biology. At PVCC, Kimberlee engaged in many on campus opportunities such as working as a biology lab assistant for Dr. Doyle, going on the Honors Astronomy trip and being part of the Honors Rube Goldberg team. As one of the most positive people known to Honors, Kimberlee spends her time laughing, asking lots of questions to feed her curiosity about life and hanging out with her pal, Elliot.

Office Assistant - Jack Brown, A.A.Jack Brown

Jack Brown is the Honors Program’s Office Assistant. He is a former Honors Achievement Award recipient and a graduate of PVCC. Jack has worked at PVCC since Fall 2018, starting out as a Notetaker for DRS. He continued along the path of mentorship to become a Peer Mentor, Lead Peer Mentor, Peer Leader, and a Lead Peer Leader all within three years. He also participated in and facilitated various leadership opportunities at PVCC such as Emerging Leaders, MCGLR 2019, LeaderShape, and more! In the Fall, Jack will continue his degree path at ASU as a Psychology major, specifically following the Counseling Psychology track. Jack enjoys various hobbies including but not limited to digital drawing, photography/photo editing, beatboxing, playing ping pong, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family!
