Director- Jenny Neujoy, M.S.
Professor Jenny Neujoy loves the power of the night sky, the openness of the universe, and the sense of peace that you get when you look up. She is dedicated to achieving community engagement in science and exploration, and has taught astronomy at Paradise Valley Community College since 2010.
Jenny worked diligently to obtain a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree with High Honors in Physics from Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Her subsequent disciplined graduate research in cosmology earned her an M.S. in Physics from the University of California at Davis.
She currently teaches AST112: Introduction to Stars and Galaxies in person, AST101/102: Survey of Astronomy online, and the AST294AB: Honors Explores Telescope Camping Trip.
Director- John Douglass, Ph.D.
John Douglass is in his fifth year as an Honors Director at PVCC, and eleventh year teaching at Paradise Valley Community College. He currently teaches the honors hybrid section of GPH 111, two sections of the Honors Lecture Forum, one online sections of GPH 211 Landform Processes, and an in person section of GCU 221 Arizona Geography.
John earned his doctorate from Arizona State University in Geography, Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in Rural Geography, and Bachelor’s from Northern Arizona University in Geography and a minor in Geology. When he is not teaching he enjoys hiking with his puppy dog, playing D&D, and disc golf.
Program Coordinator- Alexis Peterson, M.S.
Alexis Peterson serves as the Honors Program Coordinator and has been an employee at Paradise Valley Community College since 2014. She has worked in various roles at PVCC, such as Life Sciences Department evening secretary, ACE Program coordinator and academic advisor, prior to transitioning to the Honors Department. Alexis is a PVCC Honors Program graduate and graduated from the W.P. Carey School of Business in December 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Management. After that she completed a Masters of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2019.
When not in the Honors Office, Alexis likes to spend time with friends, practice her Spanish and learn about new things. She also enjoys relaxing and watching her favorite TV shows, like The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, and Friends.
Office Assistant - Kimberlee Steen, A.S.
Kimberlee Steen is the Honors Program’s Office Assistant. She is a former Honors Achievement Award recipient and a graduate of the PVCC Honors program. In the Fall, Kimberlee is planning to attend ASU to pursue a degree in biology. At PVCC, Kimberlee engaged in many on campus opportunities such as working as a biology lab assistant for Dr. Doyle, going on the Honors Astronomy trip and being part of the Honors Rube Goldberg team. As one of the most positive people known to Honors, Kimberlee spends her time laughing, asking lots of questions to feed her curiosity about life and hanging out with her pal, Elliot.
