Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is addressing the nationwide shortage of accountants with its Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with an emphasis in Accounting.
Building on PVCC’s long-standing commitment to accessible, high-quality education, the BBA in Accounting aims to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals while expanding career opportunities for students in the region. The program offers students a strong foundation in the accounting field, covering key areas such as financial reporting, taxation, auditing, and compliance. With virtual learning options, students can balance school with work, family, and other commitments, making this degree accessible and adaptable to their needs.
“Accountants are essential in today’s complex business landscape, given the increasing need for accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial regulations,” said Lynn F. Clark, CPA, program director for Accounting at PVCC. “Our program not only broadens pathways for our students but also addresses the critical workforce needs of our region. Together, we are building a future that benefits individuals, families, and businesses alike.”
Clark, who brings decades of real-world experience to her role, was recently named a 2025 recipient of the 2025 NISOD Excellence Award, honoring exceptional contributions to student learning and success in community and technical colleges. She also served as faculty advisor for PVCC’s Business and Technology Club/DECA Chapter, earning Club Advisor of the Year in 2019, and has received numerous honors, including the League for Innovation’s 2021/2022 Employee Excellence Award and the PVCC Puma Praise Award for Excellence.
Community-Driven Education
The BBA builds on PVCC’s well-established associate degree in Accounting, which prepares students for entry-level careers and offers specialization in tax or accounting. Students in the associate program often pursue credentials such as the Enrolled Agent (EA) license or Certified Bookkeeper (CB) designation, providing multiple pathways to professional advancement.
PVCC’s bachelor’s program is part of the college’s mission to provide affordable, career-ready degrees while promoting equity in higher education. Enabled by Arizona’s SB 1453 legislation, which allows community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees in high-demand fields, the BBA in Accounting joins PVCC’s Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education, launched in Fall 2023. PVCC is also working with Arizona’s public universities to ensure smooth transfer options and robust career support for students pursuing further education.
