PVCC Introduces the Puma Tutoring Center_ A New Era in Learning Excellence

What was previously known at the Learning Success Center at Paradise Valley Community College has undergone an impressive transformation and emerged as the Puma Tutoring Center. While the name is different and the space has been updated with a fresh look, the center continues to embody a renewed dedication to fostering student success and empowerment.

“Student needs have driven the rebranding and enhanced service model of the Puma Tutoring Center. We are thrilled to be able to further contribute to the academic success of our students,” Dr. Jennifer Miller, dean of Students Affairs said, adding the center will now report to the Division of Student Affairs to further enhance holistic and collaborative student support services.

Studies show students who reach out for academic assistance are likely to have a higher cumulative GPA, a full letter grade higher than college students who don’t seek tutoring. The center has a proven track record of helping Pumas excel. Just hear what the students have to say:

  • The tutoring center was the safety net I needed for my toughest subjects. With their guidance, I was able to understand and ace my exams! - Luis Ayala

  • The LSC has improved me as a student tremendously by always having the best people greet you when you walk in. The tutors are really patient, supportive, and great at explaining the material. It is also a great place to interact with others who are taking the same subject as you! - Anthony Almora

  • The tutoring center is truly an amazing place. Each and every tutor is eager to help students understand and succeed in their courses. The help I have had throughout my math courses is immense. I couldn't recommend the tutoring center enough! It is a valuable resource for each and every student. - James Thomson

With this rebranding and a recent acquisition of a Title III grant that will strengthen resource connections, PVCC is introducing enhanced services, innovative resources, and a revitalized environment that fosters collaborative learning and personal growth. Highlights include offering supplemental instruction with High Impact Practice (HIP) and updating the English as a Second Language (ESL) software in addition to existing programs. Students can expect a seamless transition, with the same warm and welcoming environment, unwavering dedication from our exceptional tutors and continued commitment to providing personalized assistance, academic guidance and support.
