PVCC Nursing Program

PVCC is expanding its Nursing Program infrastructure and will add high-fidelity simulation to increase the number of RN students by 10 percent each year for the next three years beginning in fall 2020. The potential for increasing the healthcare workforce in the North Valley is remarkable. This investment of $3.6 million will provide stackable credential pathways for existing incumbent healthcare workers and create a variety of educational opportunities to upskill the current nursing workforce.

PVCC Nursing is proposing six additional simulation rooms and one studio-like patient care area for expansion of the simulation program to serve as the North Valley center for incumbent nurse professionals in identified specialty areas. Labs and simulation rooms will also be available for use by community partners for additional, facility-specified education.

PVCC will partner with Gateway Community College's Nursing Continuing Education department to provide education in a variety of entry to mid-level positions including Patient Care Technicians, Restorative Nursing Assistants, Behavioral/Psych Technicians, caregivers, and Certified Medication Administration Technicians.

PVCC will also offer new graduates continuing education, such as onboarding, new graduate soft skills, and certifications.
