The 2023 International Education Week (IEW) program is highlighting PVCC’s “Glo-cal” Colleagues.  International Education Week is a joint initiative between the US Department of State and the US Department of Education with the purpose of promoting programs that prepare Americans for the global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Li (Lili) Kang; M.A.; M.L.S., Library Faculty, PVCC

Lili was born and grew up in Linfen, Shanxi Province, China. She earned her B.A. degree in English from Shanxi Normal University.  Lili came to the U.S. and got her Masters in English in 1989 and then her Masters in Library & Information Science in 1991 from the University of South Florida (Tampa, FL). 

She has worked as a professional librarian for about 29 years, 9 years in a public library in Orlando, FL and 20 years as a Library Faculty in the Maricopa Community College District in metro-Phoenix, AZ (including 10 years at PVCC). She has also taught Chinese and English in colleges. Lili has a passion for being a teacher-librarian, interacting with faculty, students, and community, infusing information literacy and critical thinking, as well as igniting the learner’s passion for deeper learning and self-discovery in and outside the classroom. Meanwhile, Lili has devoted many efforts and time into cultural and intercultural exchanges and global awareness over the years. She has organized and coordinated the annual Lunar New Year Celebration at PVCC for 10 years, which has become a signature event for the college. 

Lili loves gardening, hiking, Yoga, Pilates, reading, and travel. Calligraphy has been a hobby since her childhood and she enjoys showcasing and sharing this art form with others. Lili travels frequently in the states and between China and the U.S.. She and her family reside in Scottsdale, AZ.
