Arizona Teachers Academy (ATA) Scholarship at Paradise Valley Community College

ata info

The Arizona Teachers Academy (ATA) is a funding initiative designed to support future educators. Through this program, teacher candidates enrolled in either the Bachelor’s Degree, Post-Baccalaureate, or educator preparation programs receive scholarships, paid certification fees, vouchers for state-required testing, and access to Induction Services upon successful completion of their program.  The scholarship amount varies, and will cover tuition, course, and registration fees after all grants/scholarships have been awarded.  In exchange, ATA scholars must commit to teaching in an Arizona public or charter school for as many years as they have received funding; no more than two years.  Failure to successfully complete coursework or complete teaching requirements will result in repayment of scholarship funds.

Due to limited funding available, scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applications will only be reviewed after all scholarship criteria have been met.

Varies

Annual scholarship up to the actual cost of tuition and fees associated with the student’s program of study, for a maximum of two academic years (four semesters), after all other financial aid, scholarships, or grants received by the student.

  • This is a last-dollar scholarship; meaning that funding can only be provided to cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees; after ALL other free/gift aid has been received.  Funds cannot be refunded to the student for non-tuition expenses.
  • This scholarship has a service requirement.  For each academic year of funding, students are required to teach in an Arizona public or charter school for one year.  Students will sign a contract/promissory note each semester when funding is received.
  • Students are required to successfully complete their classes each semester.  Should a student not complete their classes, or leave the bachelors of education program, the scholarship will turn into a loan that the student will have to begin to repay within six months.
