Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) continues its commitment to supporting students and the surrounding community through its monthly food distribution, held on the first Thursday of each month. Partnering with St. Mary’s Food Bank, PVCC provides a vital food resource at Cordova Plaza, located in the heart of its Phoenix campus just outside the KSC building. Serving more than 200 families, reaching upwards of 700 students and community members, the food distribution is a powerful reminder of the ongoing need for food access in the Valley.
Open to PVCC students, faculty, staff, and community members, the food distribution offers accessible, no-cost support for those facing food insecurity. Students interested in volunteering are also encouraged to get involved. Click February and March to sign up.
Food insecurity remains a significant challenge across the Phoenix metro area. According to regional estimates, nearly one in seven residents experiences food insecurity, with even higher rates among college students who are balancing rising costs of living, tuition, work, and family responsibilities. PVCC’s Food Distribution plays a meaningful role in helping address that gap.
Organized by PVCC’s Student Life and Leadership team, the event is made possible by dedicated student, faculty, and staff volunteers who generously give their time. One essential contributor, PVCC staff member Lance Miller, whose behind-the-scenes work is critical to the distribution’s success, said “I will continue to do my part to help as long as this event continues to help our students and community.”
“This event is about more than food; it’s about dignity, care, and showing up for one another,” added Mike Ho, manager of Student Life and Leadership. “Our food distributions create a space where people feel supported and connected, and where students can both receive help and give back in meaningful ways.”
Upcoming spring distributions will take place on February 5 and March 5. Anyone experiencing food insecurity or who knows someone who may benefit is encouraged to attend.
