You’re Not Alone! Free Online Tutoring Available Through LSC

With campus and hybrid classes still on hold, PVCC Learning Success Center continues to support you virtually. Available for free online tutoring, students can access the Cranium Cafe through PVCC’s website, https://www.paradisevalley.edu/students/learning-success-center. Students can also work live with our tutors and success coaches Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meet Our Tutors

Robert Bureker, a retired nuclear physics teacher in the U.S. Navy, discovered volunteering in the LSC after becoming a regular at PVCC’s Fitness Center and taking a few computer classes. “I enjoy helping both young and older students with the joy of handling the many programs that I work with in computer science,” he said.

As a former Navy diver, parachute jumper, and bomb squad member, Bureker misses working out at the campus fitness center with his senior ‘buddies’ the most, but also the one-on-one interaction with his students. He also enjoys watching YouTube videos on the study of Black Holes and hiking local mountain trails.

Erika Miller is a PVCC alumnus and currently lives in Tucson. While still in high school, Miller took a few courses and her English teacher suggested she tutor at the LSC. “I found I learned best when I was helping my classmates to understand the material we were learning.”

After graduating, Miller moved to Tucson, however, she jumped at the opportunity to come back to tutoring when she learned the LSC was going remote. “I absolutely love the community. The faculty and staff are beyond amazing and the cultural mindset within the school is so inspiring. I met some of my dearest friends at PVCC, and the peers and mentors I worked with made me who I am today,” said Miller, who tutors both English and math. Outside of PVCC, Miller is studying to get her real estate license, and enjoys “anything music or art related.”
