Paradise Valley Community College Athletics Director Christina Hundley has been named a 2026 recipient of the prestigious L. William Miller Award by the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), recognizing her outstanding leadership, service, and integrity in collegiate athletics.
The award, one of the organization’s highest honors, is presented annually to a NATYCAA member who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing athletics at two-year colleges. The award is named after L. William Miller, one of NATYCAA’s founding leaders and a longtime athletics director at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley.
Hundley, who became PVCC’s third Athletics Director in 2015 after joining the department in 2008, has built a nationally respected career centered on student-athlete success, servant leadership, and advocacy for community college athletics.
“Receiving the NATYCAA L. William Miller Award is a humbling honor,” Hundley said. “Being nominated and selected by respected two-year college athletics peers makes it especially meaningful. This award reflects the strength and importance of two-year college athletics and the many people who believe in supporting others and creating opportunities that change lives. I accept this honor with heartfelt gratitude and immense pride.”
During her tenure at PVCC, Hundley has become a leading voice in intercollegiate athletics at both the conference and national levels. She previously served as President of NATYCAA and the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC), where she helped strengthen organizational operations, modernize governance structures, and advocate for student-athletes across the country. Her leadership also proved instrumental during the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as chair of the Maricopa County Community College District Athletics Council, helping guide the district through unprecedented challenges facing collegiate athletics.
In addition to her administrative leadership, Hundley currently serves in multiple national roles, including Secretary of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), member of the NACDA Executive Committee, NJCAA Region 1 Men’s Director, and positions on several NJCAA committees.
In 2023-24, Hundley was also recognized nationally as a NACDA Athletics Director of the Year.
“Christina leads with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to students,” said PVCC President Dr. Jana Schwartz. “Her impact reaches far beyond athletics. She has cultivated a culture of excellence, care, and opportunity at PVCC while earning the admiration of colleagues across the nation. We are incredibly fortunate to have Christina leading Puma Athletics and representing Paradise Valley Community College on the national stage.”
Beyond athletics administration, Hundley’s commitment to service has made a lasting impact throughout Arizona and beyond. She is a co-founder of Pat’s Run, the annual event honoring former NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman. Since its founding in 2005, the event has grown from 5,000 participants to more than 30,000 annually and has raised more than $22 million to support the Pat Tillman Foundation and its Tillman Scholars program.
A graduate of Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Hundley began her career working in Sun Devil Athletics before gaining professional sports experience with organizations including the San Francisco Giants, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Harlem Globetrotters.
“Christina epitomizes the definition of the L. William Miller Award with her excellence in leadership, service and integrity,” said NATYCAA Past President and Dean of Kinesiology/Athletics at Cypress College Colin Preston in the organization’s press release. “She has been vital to the growth and development of NATYCAA since she joined the association. Christina puts her heart and soul into the association and NACDA and we are all grateful for what she has done, but also excited about how much she will contribute in the future.”
