PVCC Athletic Director Named 2023-2024 NACDA AD of the Year

Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is proud to announce that Christina Hundley, the college's esteemed athletic director, has been recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as one of the recipients of the 2023-24 NACDA AD of the Year award. This prestigious honor acknowledges Hundley's outstanding leadership and contributions to the athletics community at PVCC and beyond.

"I am honored to be in the same conversation as those being recognized as this year's NACDA Athletics Directors of the Year. NACDA and NATYCAA have created invaluable opportunities for me both professionally and personally, and for that I am eternally grateful,” said Hundley. “Recognition like this does not happen without the support and hard work of my amazing Puma Athletics teammates, and the people at our college who support us. It is humbling to be recognized for doing work that I love, serving our staff so they can do what they do so well, and serving our student-athletes while they pursue their dreams.”

The highly esteemed accolade spans seven divisions, including NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA/other four-year institutions, and junior college/community colleges. Hundley's remarkable achievements and dedication to the advancement of student-athletes, campuses, and surrounding communities have earned her this well-deserved recognition. Winners of the NACDA AD of the Year award will be formally recognized during the 59th Annual NACDA and Affiliates Convention, scheduled to take place this coming June in Las Vegas. This event serves as a platform to honor the exemplary efforts of athletic directors across the nation and celebrate their positive impact on collegiate athletics.

In fall 2023, Hundley was selected as the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) President for the 2023-2024 membership year. The appointment follows years of commitment and involvement with NATYCAA since 2014. Hundley was elevated to district representative on the NATYCAA executive committee in 2015, and elected as NATYCAA third vice president in 2020.

“I am so grateful to NACDA for recognizing Christina Hundley as the Athletic Director of the Year. This award is a celebration of the phenomenal leader she is – both locally and at the national level,” said PVCC Interim President Jana Schwartz. “As evidence of the type of leader she is, she credits her success to the amazing team around her. We are grateful for all that Christina does to elevate and support the experience of our phenomenal student athletes.”

Hundley joined PVCC’s Athletics Department in 2008, becoming its third director in 2015. Prior to becoming AD, she served as the assistant athletics director/coordinator of student-athlete services. She has held multiple positions both locally and nationally, including: current Arizona Community College Athletics Conference (ACCAC) president; current NJCAA Region 1 men’s assistant director; National Association of Two-Year College Athletics Administrators (NATYCAA) vice president; NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Committee vice chair; NJCAA DII Baseball Committee; NJCAA Track & Field and Cross Country Committee; NJCAA DII Men’s Golf Committee; NJCAA Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Council.

The ADOY award program, now in its 26th year, has a rich history of honoring deserving athletic directors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, and commitment to their roles. With Hundley's inclusion among the distinguished list of recipients, the total number of ADs recognized by the program reaches an impressive 584 to date.
