PVCC Faculty Awarded DAC Awards of Excellence

Paradise Valley Community College’s faculty members Dr. Versha Anderson and Dr. Norma Chandler were recently honored for the 15th Annual Diversity Action Council (DAC) Awards of Excellence and their hard work and commitment leading the college’s Take Action College Team (TACT) in Summer 2020.  The two professors oversaw the team of more than 40 faculty and staff members tasked with creating a framework to ensure PVCC’s campus explicitly and intentionally acknowledges diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its policies. TACT made recommendations on how to address systemic racism and improve college processes and resources for diverse students.

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Chandler championed the TACT efforts, and are also leaders of PVCC’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Engagement committee, bringing meaningful discussion and positive changes towards making PVCC a more diverse and inclusive institution.

“I am proud of Dr. Anderson and Dr. Chandler’s work and elevated efforts to bring to life PVCC’s expression of its value of diversity, and to provide campus guidance for equity, diversity, and multicultural teaching and learning,” said President Dr. Paul Dale. “Their efforts have a positive impact on all current and future employees, students, and community members.”
