PVCC Alumni STEM Panel Offers Professional Insights

A signature event of Hispanic Heritage month celebrations in October at PVCC is a STEM Field of Interest Panel.  This year two, first-generation PVCC Hispanic Alumni were featured: Isabel Santana, BS and Felipe Sanoyo-Cuellar, BSN, RN, PCCN, CVRN-BC. Additionally, Guest Speaker: Laura Corra, PhD (Cancer Researcher) joined this panel of alumni.

This trio offered insights into their educational and professional journeys as well as their current professions. Their personal stories inspired the participants. Isabel and Felipe were very involved in campus extracurricular activities and endorsed the opportunities such engagement offers for developing leadership and professional skills.

As for words of advice to our current students, Isabel shared: “Career and life is not linear. Work hard despite how many turns you take and you will get there. Be persistent and never give up.” Felipe also encouraged students to “never give up. The PVCC culture is one of support and commitment to your success. There are a wealth of people and resources available to support you on your educational journey.”
