Ernesto Mejia, the proud son of Mexican immigrants, is an authentic example of the American dream. Doctors diagnosed him with Guillain-Barré Syndrome at 16, and the rare disease left him temporarily paralyzed. With the odds stacked against him, few thought he’d be a successful student, much less become a future College Dean of Students.
