Shannon Monge started her college education at PVCC in the Honors Program. Shannon earned her Associate Degree in General Studies and transferred to ASU West / Barrett’s Honors College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. While Shannon was a student at PVCC, she volunteered with the Recruitment Department and did New Student Orientation sessions. Shannon also volunteered with the Counseling Department and was a Peer Mentor for Athletics. Shannon also worked for the Athletics Department and did sports announcing / music for the PVCC softball team. Shannon met her future husband through a mutual friend at PVCC.

Shannon worked as a Paralegal for a law firm in Scottsdale, AZ while her husband served in the US Army. After 5 years with the firm, she moved to Belgium with her husband. She lived there for 2 years and worked for the US State Department at NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Eventually, Shannon came back to AZ and that is where her and her husband call home. Her husband is now in the US Army Reserve and they have 3 children.

Upon returning to AZ, Shannon held several temporary positions throughout MCCCD – CGCC, SCC and PVCC. Shannon has worked as a Division Administrative Assistant, Front Desk Receptionist for Administration, PASS Time Desk for Athletics and Tutoring Front Desk Assistant. Shannon obtained her current full-time position as an Administrative Assistant Senior in 2016.

Shannon successfully graduated from the MCCCD Women’s Mentor Program in Spring 2020: She now currently training to be a Title IX Mediator. She also serves on many MCCCD and PVCC committees, task forces, hiring committees and work groups.

Shannon is currently in her second term as Employee Senate Co-Chair for the Interim Employee Representation and PVCC Employee Senate Representative and is passionate about advocating on behalf of all classified staff. Shannon has worked with diverse colleagues in many different settings. Shannon has worked collaboratively with all levels of leadership. Shannon’s diverse background within and outside MCCCD helps achieve the goals the Interim Employee Senate would like to see happen.
