Jessica Parsons currently works as an OER Specialist at PVCC where she helps faculty to create and adapt their courses to save students money. She works to ensure classes are easy and fun for faculty and relevant and interesting for students. Her team was honored to earn the Innovation of the Year award for the development of the OER Specialist program. Jessica works with colleges across the district and country to help colleges to adapt and implement the program on their own campuses.

Jessica has been a member of the Civil Air Patrol for almost 10 years. She began her career as a Cadet in the program, progressing to earn the prestigious Spaatz award (#2012) and the rank of Cadet Colonel. During her time as a Cadet, Jessica served in a variety of roles across the state and nation.

Jessica developed the curriculum for and implemented Arizona Wing’s first ever Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, teaching topics on Leadership, Personal Development, Fitness and Mentorship to Cadets ages 12-21. Since joining the Civil Air Patrol, Jessica has been asked to speak across the nation and has earned several awards for her training on various leadership topics.

Jessica served as Cadet Commander of Luke Days, where she coordinated across multiple organizations to ensure the success of volunteers throughout the event. She acted as an Ambassador for the United States and United States Air Force in the International Air Cadet Exchange to the United Kingdom. She was also honored to graduate with distinction from Cadet Officer School, Cadet Command Staff College and Lone Star Emergency Service Academy. She was honored to serve in a variety of staff positions for Encampments in Texas and Colorado managing teams to ensure success of the training events. Now as a Senior Member, she currently serves as a Character Development Instructor, teaching ethical and moral leadership to Cadets. She has also helped to develop, design, coordinate, teach, and lead an ongoing virtual Training Leaders of Cadets (TLC) program that has been endorsed nationally and is now the model for online training for the Civil Air Patrol.

As a student, Jessica is pursuing a Major in Theatre and has performed with East Valley Children’s Theatre, Mozart, PVCC and Arizona Opera in a variety of roles.

Jessica also has put her degree in Web Design to good use with creating a central website for the AZ Homeschool Community field trips which she helps to coordinate. She loves to spend her free time building websites for non-profit businesses around the country and gaining experience in graphic design and video production.
