Dr. Jana Schwartz has over twenty years of experience in higher education specifically focusing on student access, student success, and creating equitable and inclusive environments for all students to achieve their goals.
Prior to joining the PVCC community, Dr. Schwartz served as the Dean of Pathways and Student Success and Title III Program Director at Front Range Community College in Colorado. In this position, she was the lead to FRCC’s work on guided academic pathways and student success reform efforts. Dr. Schwartz’s professional path has also allowed her to serve as the Director of the Center for Human Enrichment at the University of Northern Colorado and administer residential living-learning communities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. Schwartz’s educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado, an M.A. in Student Development in Postsecondary Education from the University of Iowa, and a B.A. in Psychology from Central College. Her dissertation topics explore the role of mothers in students pursuit of higher education.
In her personal life, Dr. Schwartz enjoys spending time with her supportive family and two sons, Cooper, and Beckett. They enjoy outdoor activities, soccer, and finding time to slow down and enjoy their time together. They work to give back to the communities in which they are a part and all enjoy being part of the PVCC family.
