Students can ensure campus safety by reporting any potentially threatening behaviors using the Threat Assessment Report form. The team wants to hear about behaviors that cause worry or concern, even if the behavior seems low level or unclear.
The BIT cannot investigate or intervene if they are not aware of the problem.
The earlier BIT learns about a potential problem, the greater the range of tools and options they will be able to use.
Early intervention makes severe incidents less likely.
BIT will review all Threat Assessment Reports to determine an appropriate action. Procedures and protocols are in place, including a threat assessment rubric to evaluate each Threat Assessment Report. Not all reports will be deemed an imminent threat. However, it is important to submit a report so the team may determine if a potential threat exists.
To file a Threat Assessment report, go to the Threat Assessment Report Form. Required fields include basic information about the person you are reporting, a description of the incident or behaviors that prompted your report, your name and contact information. BIT may need to contact you for additional information. You will be unable to complete the report without providing your contact information.
Individuals who file a report will receive e-mail confirmation that the report was received and the assessment process was initiated. BIT will review the information and determine appropriate actions to take.
Confidentiality is protected, with the understanding that the college is obliged to protect the safety of the campus. Threat Assessment reports and BIT files are confidential.
Persons making false reports will be subject to disciplinary actions.
