Student Life Staff

Mike Ho, Manager

Mike Ho is the Student Life and Leadership Manager and holds a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Philosophy from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA, and a Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. His primary area of research was multicultural and disability affairs in education and is excited to work in the area of student activities.

Prior to working for the Maricopa Community College District, Mike worked in a variety of fields, including software consulting, career counseling, environmental education, and college student housing. He has consulted for colleges nationwide in the area of educational technology and his work has been featured in Campus Technology magazine, the Peer Educator magazine and he is a contributor to the Student Affairs Collective online journal.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mike came to Arizona in 2004 from Providence, Rhode Island.   His hobbies include cooking, camping, and outdoor activities with his family.


Sam Tea, Student Services Specialist

Sam Tea is the newest member of the Student Life and Leadership team. Although Sam just became a Program Specialist in October 2018, he had been involved with the Student Life and Leadership as a Staff/Faculty Advisor for student club/organization since January 2016. His educational background includes an Associate in Arts from Glendale Community College, an Associate in Applied Science in Recreation Management from Scottsdale Community College, and a Bachelor in Applied Science in Law Enforcement Management from Northern Arizona University. Sam will also pursue a master’s degree in the education field in Fall of 2019.

Prior to working with the Student Life and Leadership Office, Sam became a part of the PVCC family when he started working in the College Police Department in 2013. Sam became the third shift supervisor and later moved to work during the day shift in leadership and administrative roles within the department. During this time, he also became more involved with the students by teaching outdoor recreational classes and becoming the PVCC Outdoor Adventure Club Advisor.

Born and raised in Cambodia, Sam immigrated to the United States in 2006. Sam attended high school as a Freshman in Spring 2007 where he received quality education for the first time in his life. Sam also became the first person in his family to attend college in 2008 when he was accepted into the ACE Plus Program at Glendale Community College. Sam loves to go hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, and many other outdoor activities during his free time.

Emma Magaña

Emma has worked in Student Life and Leadership since 2015.  Emma can be seen planning and coordinating major events on campus, including the Vendor Fair, Puma Palooza, the First Generation Celebration, and so much more.  If you have an idea for a program or event, please work with Emma and we'll see how we can get it done!
