PVCC Innovation Challenge Competition

PVCC Innovation Challenge Competition

Do you have the entrepreneur spirit and a great business idea?

Sign up for our Student Innovation Challenge Competition! You must submit your online application by 5 p.m. Friday, January 29th!

Apply here

DETAILS:

To participate in The Innovation Challenge, submit your creative, innovative idea that solves a real problem.

Business ideas can be conceptual and in development, or from student entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of their startup. Ideas may have a social purpose but should be based on a revenue generating business model. Any creative ideas from any discipline are welcome.

Business Idea Description

You must describe your business or business idea in not more than 500 words. Your response should include information about what type of product or service you plan to develop and sell, what industry you will focus on, who your ideal customer would be, what problem you are solving for that customer, and how you will reach your customer (online, in-person, etc.). Please use as much detail as possible so application reviewers can easily understand what your business or idea is about.

How much time will it take?

How much time you decide to spend on developing your idea is up to you. Just remember that turning great ideas into a viable business strategy requires time, effort and energy. During preparation for the competition, you need to set deadlines for different aspects of the pitch and it is essential that you meet the deadlines. Our expectation is that you take this process seriously.

Who can apply?

In order to apply for the Innovation Challenge Competition, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:

  • All currently enrolled students at PVCC are eligible to apply. Currently registered status is also required to participate in The Innovation Challenge Competition.
  • You are enrolled in at least 3 credits at PVCC during the spring semester.
  • You have a basic business plan for your idea OR you've recently launched a business and are looking for guidance and support to help it grow.

Selection Process

A committee of cross-disciplinary faculty and the director of the Entrepreneurship Education Center will evaluate the business ideas and select the top 10 best ideas. The EEC will notify the 10 individuals by February 5, 2021.
