Gabi Gianni, PVCC’s newly elected Student Body President may be new to PVCC’s main campus, however, she’s not new to PVCC. She attended dual enrollment classes while in high school and then two semesters at the PVCC Black Mountain site. That experience has led her to one of her goals as President, to find ways to integrate activities and initiatives on both campuses. She says "I’m excited to see what we can do as a council. I want to create relationships, talk to other students and see how we can affiliate and work together."
Gabi plans to draw on her extensive community service experience and focus as President on community outreach projects, such as a Food Drive, during the holidays. In addition, with the help of the student council, she hopes to institute a support system for dual enrollment students so they feel welcomed and included in classes and campus activities.
Gabi plans to complete her Associate of Arts degree here at PVCC and then transfer to University of Arizona or possibly out of state where she plans to major in Pre-law. Ultimately, her goal is to work in a law practice helping families and veterans, as well as, foster and adopted children.
Gabi’s advice to new students is to find an instructor, mentor or staff member that you can go to when you need help. It is obvious by watching Gabi interact with other students that she wants to make PVCC a welcoming, accepting environment for everyone.
Gabi is a great example of students who are “Making It Happen” at PVCC!
