Chef Thomas D’Ambrosio, owner of Aioli Gourmet Burgers, has won bragging rights as winner in the acclaimed Food Networks series Chopped! Recently, Chef Tom competed in the Tacos & Tequila Chopped competition and won the challenge hands down! A PVCC alumnus, Chef Tom says, “PVCC was the jump start to my career. I was able to have a full time job while attending school, which allowed me to get a head start on my passion of culinary arts.”
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and SkillsUSA National Culinary Arts Champion, Chef Tom has trained and mentored with some of the best chefs in the world. His passion for food and his ability to create dishes that are flavorful and different is what he is all about. Bringing his culinary skill to North Phoenix was his goal. His dream came true with the help of two life-long friends. Together this dynamic team started Aioli Gourmet Burgers. Aioli Gourmet Burgers started with one food truck in 2014 and has grown to three trucks, a full catering company, and a brick and mortar location at 32nd Street and Shea in Phoenix.
“Education is the most important thing and no one can take that away from you. When working in the food and beverage industry a college education is what gets you in the door and fast tracks you to high level positions,” Tom says to students. “Never take it for granted! Hard work and determination always pays off as long as you have a passion for what you want to do in life.”
Aioli Gourmet Burgers has received many awards and recognitions, here are just a few: Best Burger – People’s Choice Award at the Scottsdale Culinary Festival – Burger Battle 2018 for the second time – People’s Choice Award Burger Battle 2016. They were also voted Best Burger – Phoenix New Times in 2017 and 2018 and have just been nominated for Phoenix New Times Top 5 Food Trucks in Arizona.
