Name of Activity: Mata Ortiz Pottery Demonstration/20 year celebration
Statement of Outcome:
Lucy Mora Sandoval and Lorenzo Bugarini, both of Mata Ortiz, Mexico, have been coming to PVCC since January 2000 giving a pottery demonstration to ceramics classes at PVCC. In 2020, in recognition of 20 years of this effort, their demonstration was held in KSC1000 for the benefit of the entire campus and community. Approximately 80 people attended the all day event,which included a delicious Mexican buffet lunch provided by a grant from the Diversity and Inclusiveness Grant.
The event was also an opportunity to promote an upcoming Study Abroad program to Mata Ortiz in May 2020.
The students, faculty, staff and community members who attended reported great satisfaction with the event, and many expressed a desire to visit Mata Ortiz as part of the study abroad program.
