Dr. Kranitz, former president of PVCC, had at the time of her death in 2003, served the Maricopa Community College District for 34 years. She began her career in 1969 working in the library at GCC, and later held posts at District, SMCC and at PVCC. She was a passionate advocate for access to higher education for all. Her own life story was one that paralleled that of many of today’s students: she came to this country at an early age, became a naturalized citizen, and later the first in her family to get a college degree. Through hard work and commitment, she completed bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees and went on to presidential leadership in the MCCCD—one of the largest in the U.S. With the planning Dr. Kranitz put in place for the future growth of PVCC, her legacy is a college that will continue to offer students opportunities for generations to come.
