Puma Track and Field had a successful weekend at the NJCAA National Championships held in Hutchinson, KS last week.The competition was highlighted by Connor Williamson bringing home PVCC’s first individual National Championship since 2012. Additionally, the Pumas posted 13 USTFCCCA All-American performances and nine Top 5 performances.
It has been a very busy spring season for Puma Athletics. The Pumas had seven of eight sports qualify for post season competition, with five of those qualifying to compete at NJCAA National Tournaments. In the midst of their stellar performances, several student-athletes and coaches were recognized at the Conference and Region levels.
The PVCC Women's Tennis team completed their successful season with a good performance at the NJCAA National Tournament this week in Tucson. This was the first time in program history that the Pumas qualified for nationals.
Puma Men’s and Women’s Track and Field put up some stellar performances at the Region 1 Championships last week at Mesa Community College. Seven Puma student-athletes claimed region titles in their respective events, with an additional seven claiming runner-up honors.
Sophomore Megan Smith has qualified for the 2017 NJCAA Women’s Golf National Tournament. The tournament will be held at Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA, May 15-18.
Smith was one of five individual qualifiers from Region I. She is the first women’s golfer to represent PVCC at the NJCAA National Tournament since 2014.
