Sophomore Israel Oloyede broke the NJCAA National Record in the weight throw at Northern Arizona University’s NAU Tune-Up in Flagstaff on Friday. Oloyede’s throw of 20.45m (67’01.25”) bested Johnnie Jackson of Coffeyville Community College's (KS) February 2015 record of 20.35m (66’09.25”).
While a handful of Pumas traveled to Arkansas last weekend, the core of the track and field team competed Saturday at the Mesa Indoor Invitational at Mesa Community College. The Paradise Valley Track and Field team sent eight student-athletes to the University of Arkansas’ Randall Tyson Track Center this past weekend for the Tyson Invitational Track and Field meet. The Pumas captured three NJCAA national championship qualifying marks, seven personal best marks and one school record.
The PVCC Men's Golf Team finished 3rd at the opening tournament of the 2019 season hosted by Mesa Community College at Dobson Ranch Golf Club. The Pumas were bested by South Mountain Community College and Eastern Arizona College. The Pumas had an overall team score of 582, six over par for the two-day tournament.
Puma Baseball is off to an 11-0 start this season. Conference play opens up this Saturday as PV travels to Central Arizona College. The Pumas will host their conference home opener against Phoenix College on February 19 at 3pm.
