The Paradise Valley Track and Field teams wrapped up their 2019 season with two top-20 finishes at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet on May 18th.
Sophomore Israel Oloyede won the Weight Throw competition at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Pittsburg, KS with a throw of 20.89m. Oloyede’s throw not only won the National Title, but he also broke his own NJCAA and School Records while setting a new NJCAA Indoor National Championships meet record.
Sophomore Israel Oloyede broke the NJCAA National Record in the weight throw at Northern Arizona University’s NAU Tune-Up in Flagstaff on Friday. Oloyede’s throw of 20.45m (67’01.25”) bested Johnnie Jackson of Coffeyville Community College's (KS) February 2015 record of 20.35m (66’09.25”).
While a handful of Pumas traveled to Arkansas last weekend, the core of the track and field team competed Saturday at the Mesa Indoor Invitational at Mesa Community College. The Paradise Valley Track and Field team sent eight student-athletes to the University of Arkansas’ Randall Tyson Track Center this past weekend for the Tyson Invitational Track and Field meet. The Pumas captured three NJCAA national championship qualifying marks, seven personal best marks and one school record.
