Puma Baseball alum Josh Rojas (2013-2015), who was most recently with the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, was called up to the big league club today. He will start in left field tonight for the Diamondbacks wearing No. 9 in his Major League debut. The team is currently in Colorado facing the Rockies.
The Paradise Valley Community College, Chandler-Gilbert CC, Gateway CC and Scottsdale CC Baseball programs will be conducting an open tryout together on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The tryout will be held at the PVCC Baseball field. There is a $10.00 charge to attend. Each player must provide their own workout clothes, baseball spikes, and glove.
Three Pumas have garnered post season All-Region and All-Conference honors this year. Freshman Ryan Johnson was named First Team All-Region for his performances this season. Sophomores Mason Gavre and Haiden Hendricks were honored with Second Team All-Region nominations. Ryan Johnson was also named First Team All-Conference for his efforts.
The PVCC Baseball team is in the middle of a tight race for a Region I Division II Playoff spot. The Pumas (27-20-1) are currently in 5th place with only six games left in the regular season. The Pumas are only three games out of first place spot.

PVCC Baseball (25-16-1) is tied for fourth place in the ACCAC Division II with three weeks left in the regular season. The Pumas are 11-15 in Conference play this season and are within two games of first place in the tight Division II playoff race. With only 12 games remaining, the Pumas have been ramping up for a strong finish to the 2019 season.
