The Paradise Valley Women's Tennis team got a big win against Imperial Valley College(CA) on Friday. The Pumas started their season with an impressive 8-1 victory.

The Pumas (1-0) started with singles play and won all six matches. Highlights of the day were the play of sophomore Leah Bookbinder and freshman Tia Silva. Leah won her singles match in dominating fashion (6-0, 6-0) and followed it up with a masterful performance in doubles winning 8-0. Tia Silva battled in her singles match and pulled out a memorable win (4-6,6-2,10-8). After losing a highly competitive first set, Tia was able to win the second set and force a third set tie-breaker. She fell behind 8-3 in the tie-breaker only to win the last seven points of the match.

"We are so excited to start the season and very happy with the results today," said head coach Feroz Rast.

The Pumas match up next against highly ranked Arizona Christian University on February 18.
