PUMAS RANKED FOURTH GOING INTO NJCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The PVCC Cross Country team is headed to Fort Dodge, IA this weekend to compete in the NJCAA Division I National Championship. In the latest USTFCCCA poll, the Puma men are ranked fourth behind top ranked Iowa Central, Central Arizona and South Plains (Texas).

The Pumas have been led all season by sophomore Tyler Beauchamp. Beauchamp won the ACCAC Championship in September and helped the Pumas to a second place finish at the Region I Championship when he finished third overall. The Pumas were bested by No. 2 Central Arizona at the Region I Championship. The Pumas top seven student-athletes include freshmen Nick Caruso, Wesley Cook and Vaughn Jackson, and sophomores Beauchamp, Hunter Hicks, Aldo Marquez-Barajas and Andres Rodriquez Story.

On the women’s side, sophomore Lauren Markee was the lone woman to qualify for the NJCAA National Championship. Markee qualified after her 11th place finish at the Region I Championship.

The NJCAA DI National Championship race will take place at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge, IA on Saturday, November 11. The men will race first at 11:00am with the women following at 12:00pm.
