PVCC Softball had a season to remember and to be proud of in 2018. The Pumas (32-19) had their best season to date, surpassing their previous most win season back in 2015, by an impressive 10 wins.
With five student-athletes named to the All-Region Team, Yessika Galaz, Marissa Ibarra-Palomo, Karlee Leyvas, Alexis Malave, and Madison Wiley, the Pumas were rewarded for their hard work on the field. Alicia Young (.445) and Malave (.423) were both ranked in the top 20 of the ACCAC in batting average at 11th and 18th, respectively. Ibarra-Palomo (55) and Maya Lentz (53) were also in the top 20 in RBI’s at 16th and 18th ,respectively. The Pumas had four in the top 20 of on-base percentage with Diondra Bodman leading the way at .520 (10), Malave at .519 (11), Wiley at .511 (16), and Young at .500 (19).
Yessika Galaz led the Pumas in pitching with 14 wins on the season, ranking her at 10th in the ACCAC. Karlee Leyvas was right behind her at 14th with 12 wins. Leyvas was 15th in the Conference in Earned Run Average (ERA) with a 4.93.
Head Coach Nick Candrea was named ACCAC Division II Coach of the Year for the first time in his Puma career.
