Securing a spot in the Region I playoffs has historically proven difficult for the Pumas, their last appearance being in 2012.  With their second year head coach, Christian DeVries, the PVCC men’s squad has ascended in the rankings and will appear in the 2019 Region I playoffs.

On October 17 the men traveled the Mesa for a game that had significant implications in the playoff race. After 110 minutes of play, the game ended in a 0-0 tie and the Pumas picked up an all-important point that kept them in the playoff hunt. Luis Villegas picked up the shutout with five saves. PV led the way with 16 shots, 10 on goal.

On October 19 the Pumas faced Chandler-Gilbert in their final regular season game. Antonio Carrillo put the Pumas up 1-0 early in the game. CGCC tied the game after the water break and added the go-ahead goal late in the second half.

The Pumas have qualified for the Region 1 playoffs, currently ranked #5 in the ACCAC. They will have to wait until Wednesday, October 23 to see their final seeding and their first round opponent. The first round of the Region 1 playoffs starts on Monday, October 28.
