The Paradise Valley women's tennis season officially got started on Friday, February 3 against Imperial Valley College (CA).
The Pumas (1-0) fell behind early losing two out of three doubles matches, but fought their way back, winning five out of six singles matches to get the 6-3 team win.
"Could not have asked for a better way to start the season" said head coach Feroz Rast. "We are a really young team and these types of matches will get us ready for conference play. I am very impressed with how we played; we had the right level of determination to come back from an early deficit. We played doubles with a good mindset, but just could not get the big points to go our way; singles was a completely different story. Our two sophomores Bianca Amaya and Erica Wolford led the way as they dominated their matches."
The Pumas play again in a few weeks against Hope International (Feb. 17 @ 3pm) and Colorado Mesa (Feb. 18 @ 9:30am). Both matches will be played at PVCC.
