The accolades for PVCC women’s soccer keep rolling in.  Two Pumas, sophomore’s Janessa Dunbar and Jaime Iurato, were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2016 Junior College Women’s Scholar All-America Second Team.  They are two of 22 women selected nationally based on academic and athletic prowess.

The NSCAA annually recognizes Scholar All-Americans at the high school, junior college and senior college levels.  Student-athletes receiving Scholar All-America recognition at the Junior College level must be a sophomore in academic standing at the institution and meet the following criteria:  3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career; Start more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team.

The awardees will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, on January 14 in Los Angeles during the 2017 NSCAA Convention.

Dunbar and Iurato helped lead the Pumas to an unbeaten record of 25-0-1 in 2016 and their third NJCAA National Championship title in the past seven years.  Both women will transfer to four-year institutions to pursue their educations and playing careers.
