The PVCC Women's Soccer team, which recently emerged as the NJCAA #1 ranked team in the nation, ended their regular season with a 3-0 win at Mesa and recorded an undefeated regular season 20-0. The last time the Pumas were undefeated in regular season was 2010.
The Paradise Valley Community College Women's Soccer team (19-0) is the top ranked team in the NJCAA in the most recent poll. The Pumas knocked Eastern Florida State out of the top spot after the Titans had spent 16 consecutive rankings in the top spot.
Puma forward Jamie Iurato was named ACCAC Player of the week October 17. Iurato had six goals last week, helping PVCC to a 2-0 record.
Iurato leads the ACCAC as well as the NJCAA in goals this season with 36, helping the Pumas to an impressive 18-0 start. Iurato is a sophomore, who competed at the University of Oklahoma her Freshman year before coming to PVCC this year.
The PVCC Cross Country teams competed in the Drews/Neubauer Cross Country Invitational in Ettrick, WI this past weekend. The Pumas, running in cold, windy and rainy conditions, had strong finishes on both sides and came away with some much needed experience.
Over the years, many PVCC student-athlete alumni have returned to the Pumas to help coach their former teams. No year has seen as many as does this year. Six PVCC student-athlete alums are serving in some capacity with the athletics department this year. These Puma alumni are helping coach and mentor current Puma student-athletes daily.
