Puma Men’s Soccer improve to 4-2 in the ACCAC, and are riding a four-game winning streak. After a tightly contested first half on October 3, the men were up 1-0 at half against GateWay after a goal from Ricardo Martinez. In the second half the Pumas put on the pressure as four different student-athletes scored; David Case, Dante Reyes, Erskine Leonard and James Downey.
Puma Women’s Soccer picked up two keys wins to stay in the hunt for the ACCAC playoffs. On October 3, the women beat Gateway 7-0 at home with Mari Labansat and Justine Cardwell, netting two goals each. Both keepers, Bridgett Birss and Akela Patterson, split time in the goal to secure the shutout.
The Pumas continue to improve on the season as they have faced five nationally ranked teams in their seven loses. The Pumas are starting to find the back of the net as they learn to play together.
After beating Scottsdale on Sept. 26, the women played in their fifth overtime game of the season against Cochise on Sept 28.
Women’s Soccer beat Gateway and South Mountain with strong performances and multiple goals last week. On September 12 the Pumas traveled to Chandler-Gilbert to take on GWCC in an evening match up. Five different student-athletes scored as the Pumas defeated the Geckos 5-1.
