Denise DiGianfilippo, Dean of Academic Affairs, has served in her administrative role at Paradise Valley Community College since 2008. Prior to her position with PVCC, she held positions of adjunct nursing faculty, residential nursing faculty, and nursing department chair between the years of 1996 and 2008 at Glendale Community College. Denise is a native of Illinois and has lived in Arizona for 20 years with her husband and four children. Before coming to Arizona, she was employed as a Registered Nurse in a variety of areas such as medical/surgical nursing, oncology, emergency room, and pediatrics. Denise also served as nursing clinical adjunct faculty at Elgin Community College, Elgin, Illinois. She has been a registered nurse for 33 years and continues to maintain an active Arizona Registered Nurse license.
Denise’s education experiences include Chenoa High School, Parkland Junior College, Loyola University of Chicago, Northern Illinois University, and Nova Southeastern University. She earned a bachelor degree in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago, a master of science degree (maternal/child nursing) from Northern Illinois University, and a doctorate of education degree in higher education leadership (healthcare education) from Nova Southeastern University.
She has been the recipient of several awards which include 2001 Research Excellence Award from Nova Southeastern University, 2003 Community Medicine Partner Award from Raising Special Kids, the 2006 Chair Academy Exemplary Leader Award, and was selected in 2006 to attend the National Institute of Leadership Development Program, LEADERS 2006.
Denise is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (nursing honor society), American Nurses Association, Arizona Nurses Association, and the National League for Nurses. She has served as a site visitor for the National League for Nurses Accreditation Commission (NLNAC). Denise has also served as a board member for career and technical education, member of the district dual enrollment committee, nursing instructional council, FCF MindQuest, Communities That Care, Co-Chair for the MCCCD 21st Century dual enrollment team, Co-coordinator of the 2014-15 PVCC HLC Accreditation Steering Team, and numerous other campus and district educational committees.
Her passion for making learning come alive is evident in her visions that became reality through the designs of the Life Sciences Building at Glendale Community College and the Health Sciences Simulation facility at Paradise Valley Community College. Denise believes that education is critical for the future of a healthy and productive society.
