From life skills and performing arts to Kids College and STEAM in Spanish, elementary school, middle school, and high school students can go to “camp” at PVCC this summer. We will be offering these camps during the month of June. Check out what we will be offering!

MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND CAMP

Join Paradise Valley Community College’s latest summer camp additions geared specifically for emerging band students entering grades 6-8 for the ‘18-’19 school year! Collaborate with friends in both full and chamber ensembles, and learn new the theory behind crafting music or explore secondary instruments.

  1. Journey of the Mind Challenge
    • This camp is exclusively for middle school students. In the mornings, students will participate in a variety of activities based on the arts, scientific principles, and creative problem solving. The afternoons will be reserved for collaborative work on an extended project combining scientific concepts with visual and performing arts. The camp will culminate with a presentation of final projects.

  2. Math Camps
    • These math camps are for all new students who have only taken the Accuplacer math placement test once and place into either pre-college or developmental MAT082 or MAT092. The 24 hours of content review will be followed by students re-testing on the placement test with a goal of placing into a higher, college-level math class.
    • Registration deadline is June 6, 2018, 12:00 PM for the June camp. Registration deadline is July 25, 2018, 12:00 PM for the August Camp. Space is limited.

  4. Middle School Summer Theatre Intensive
    • In this camp, students will participate in different classes: auditioning, character development, prop making, improvisation, and so much more! The afternoons will be reserved for rehearsal of a small show that will be presented on the last day of camp for families and friends. All students are guaranteed a role in the show!

    • This camp will be a fun learning experience for elementary school students, where they will get a chance to explore creating characters through famous books and stories while enhancing their skills in collaboration, creativity, and using their imaginations.

  11. Video Game Production
    • This camp will be about the concept of designing and building a Simple Platformer Video Game in the Unity Game Engine video game, which features a newly created superhero. Students will gain experience in the elements of creative writing, visual art, sound design, and coding.

    • Center for the Performing Arts, Music Rehearsal Room (CPA115)
    • This camp is designed for students entering grades 6th through 8th for the 2018-19 school year
    • Presented in collaboration between the PVCC and Paradise Valley Unified School District
    • Students will provide their own lunch. PVCC cafeteria will be open for students to purchase lunch.

Student competitions at the CARSEF Science Fair, student presentations, award ceremony, demonstrations, and guest speakers.
