Guided Independent Learning

Guided Independent Learning (GIL) is a course that is print-based, instructor guided, and completely outside of the classroom.

Students must enroll in and start the course by the enrollment deadline.

You will meet with the instructor initially who will provide you with a print-based packet that includes a course syllabus, assignments, and other course materials (print, computer, or other media) to guide the learning pace – textbooks are to be purchased separately. These packets will be available shortly prior to the first day of class; see Class Schedule for start dates.

Class Schedule

Assignments are then done on your own and turned in to the same location (or as arranged with instructor) by the due date for grading. Turning in assignments timely is very important in this format, as it is equivalent to attendance in a traditional in-person class.  When turning in an assignment, you can check if previous assignments have been graded and ready for pick up.

Tests are scheduled in the Testing Center, unless otherwise specified by the instructor.
