Next, analyze how you spend your time. Use the chart above to count up total hours in each area. How much time each week do you spend on each?

in classes? ______ hours
studying for classes? ______ hours
working? ______ hours
meeting needs of others? ______ hours
exercising? ______ hours
relaxing? ______ hours
sleeping? ______ hours
_________? ______ hours
_________? ______ hours
_________? ______ hours

______ Total

We all have 168 hours each week. You have now taken a look at how committed your time is:

  • If you have more than 168 hours committed, you cannot "fit" everything into a week. You will need to look at modifying some commitments to give yourself the time you need.
  • If you have many hours less than the 168 hours committed, you have choices as to when you want to study based on what's "best" for you. Without committing time for study, it may be too easy to feel, "I'll do it later."
