Freshman Brian King became the first Puma baseball player to throw a perfect game in the PVCC's history. |
After winning the regular season conference title in their first year, the Pumas begin the 2010 season winning their first nine games.
During the nine-game winning streak, PVCC has outscored their opponents 60-7, including four shutouts by the Puma pitching staff. Brian King, a freshman from Marcos De Niza High School, tossed the first perfect game in the school’s young history.
“We’re hungry to win,” says Jake Saylor, a sophomore catcher from Hamilton High School in Mesa. “We have worked too hard from fall till now. The only way to give it justice is to win.”
The Pumas began conference play against Mesa Community College this weekend. They played at home Friday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. and at MCC Saturday, Feb. 13 at noon. The Pumas knocked Mesa out of the conference tournament last year. |
