NAU set to present Transfer-Connection day on campus

On Thursday, Feb. 25, a tent will be available to students in the KSC courtyard from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. offering information about Northern Arizona University programs available through Paradise Valley Community College as well as the main Flagstaff campus.

This Transfer/Connection day is a chance for students to become knowledgeable about the many different opportunities NAU has to offer. Currently, PVCC offers three bachelor’s programs where students attend NAU courses, but in the comfort of a PVCC classroom. These programs include Bachelor of Science Business Administration, Bachelor of Science Elementary Education and Bachelor of Science/Art Interdisciplinary Studies-Public Management.

Serving a dual purpose, these programs allow students to complete their bachelor’s degrees on the PVCC campus while saving money. Unlike NAU’s main campus, PVCC waives parking fees. Courses are cheaper, and all of PVCC’s services are available.

Cari Wilkins is the NAU program coordinator at PVCC and hopes to inform students with the Transfer/Connection Day. The main purpose is to make students aware of the programs offered locally and throughout the Valley, said Wilkins.

Students can expect to see information about PVCC’s partnership programs, other Maricopa County Community College partnership programs and to learn about the admission requirements at the community college level. The full-time faculty from the local programs and NAU advisers will be attending the Transfer/Connection day to help answer any questions regarding requirements, admissions and the partnership programs.

Although the main focus of the event is about the local partnership programs, there will also be information for students who plan to transfer to or who are curious about NAU’s main Flagstaff campus.

“The Transfer/Connection day is an opportunity for students to come talk to representatives from PVCC or Flagstaff,” said Wilkins.

Admission representatives will be relaying general information about the variety of majors offered in Flagstaff. Transfer guide information, admission requirements and information for campus tours will also be available.

Students do not need any preparations in order to attend NAU’s Transfer/Connection day, but should come with an empty stomach and a pen in hand. Free pizza will be given out at the tent as well as prizes which include PVCC bookstore gift cards, zoo tickets, Wet and Wild tickets and more.

For more information regarding NAU’s Transfer/Connection day, please visit the NAU offices at PVCC in the M-East building or call 602-493-2728. For information about local or Valley NAU partnership programs, please visit www.maricopa.edu/connection or extended.nau.edu/paradisevalley.
