Clinic offers inexpensive dental care to young adults

For anyone 20-years-old and under, affordable dental care is now available thanks to volunteer dentists at the Desert Mission Children’s Dental Clinic located at 9201 N. Fifth St. in Phoenix.
The non-profit clinic, which is affiliated with the John C. Lincoln Health Network, has been serving children since 1929, but it increased the age eligibility from 18 to 20 last year, says Dr. Ju Lawrence, DMD, director. |

Finalists in the search for Paradise Valley Community College’s new president will visit the campus and appear at open forums Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 24 and 25, to meet the community and answer questions as part of the selection process.
The four candidates are Paul Dale, Ph.D., current interim president, PVCC; Brad Bartel, Ph.D., president of Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colo.; Mark Robinson, Ph.D., vice chancellor of student development at City College of San Francisco, Calif.; and Penelope (Penny) Wills, Ph.D., president of Northeast Iowa Community College, Calmar, Iowa.

MCCCD efficiency plans in motion

On Dec. 9, consulting firm Alvarez and Marsal presented its final report to the Maricopa County Community College District Governing Board.
Hired by the board, Alvarez and Marsal researched and reviewed the efficiency of all MCCCD colleges. The consultants may be gone now, but their recommendations still linger.
Illegitimate job recruiters exploit unsuspecting PVCC students

In large boldface print atop white or yellow construction paper the fliers read “Extra Cash” and “$2000 Part-time.” These unregistered job listings can found at Paradise Valley Community College on the 14 campus bulletin boards and often inside of the classrooms.
According to Norma Chandler, manager of Career Services at PVCC, that the unregistered fliers reappear as quick as they are removed. “This is a worsening problem,” said Chandler, ”money for free labor.”
