We are pleased to announce the launch of the college’s 2012 Campaign to Support Students our third annual campaign for employees and retirees. We invite you to “Give Together. Grow Together.” Over the years, dozens of PVCC employees and retirees have chosen to make a difference at PVCC through giving to our Foundation. Together, through the annual campaign over the past two years, faculty, staff and retirees gave almost $20,000 to support thirteen different funds for scholarships, program support and our unrestricted Fund for Excellence; bringing our total for all prior campaigns to almost $60,000. Your participation in the annual campaign can help bring financial relief to students, help invest in new learning opportunities and programs, and make a real impact on campus. Your generosity will help continue the culture of giving which has become a legacy of our PVCC employees and retirees. PVCC is known for its high quality programs and committed, caring employees. MAJOR GIFT CAMPAIGN PRIORITY FUNDS - Download pdf Bachelor Degree Completion Partnership Endowments This program will enhance and expand the innovative and cost-effective PVCC partnership-based (currently Northern Arizona University and potentially University of Arizona) bachelor degree delivery programs offered on-site at PVCC. Elements of the program include: a) an endowed faculty position to teach both community college and university courses in business curriculum, education or general studies, as well as mentor students; b) scholarships for PVCC sophomore students intending to participate in one of the on-site degrees; c) scholarships for on-site NAU and UA students; d) funding for enhanced transfer student services including advising and career services; and d) funding to support paid discipline-related internships. Fund raising goals: Endowed faculty position - $1,000,000; Endowed scholarships - $300,000; and Program enhancements - $150,000 Black Mountain Campus Science Education Enhancement Endowment Astronomy, physics and sustainability will become part of the core academic disciplines at the Black Mountain campus. With the “dark” night sky, PVCC will be relocating our telescopes to this site; additionally physics supports the study of astronomy; finally with the desert location, eco-sustainability will also be studied. Elements: technology to support and enhance the astronomy program; funds to support a high powered telescope and supporting equipment; funds to support physics and eco-sustainability laboratories and program enhancements including start up for a community garden and permaculture supporting curriculum development. Fund raising goal: $250,000 Endowed Student Engagement Scholarships The project will significantly expand student participation in co-curricular student development programming including (but not limited to): Emerging Leaders, peer mentor programs; diversity and inclusion training; service learning, internships and co-op work experience; civic engagement; Honors, fine and performing arts, and athletics. Scholarships for the course and registration fees will incentivise participation. Fund raising goal: $300,000
ANNUAL EMPLOYEE/RETIREE CAMPAIGN 2012 FACT SHEET - Download pdf Why is the Employee/Retiree Giving Campaign so important? Contributions from employees and retirees demonstrate your belief in our mission in a tangible way through personal philanthropy. Equally important, as we prepare for our first external campaign, it sends a strong message to those outside of the college that we are leading the way in supporting our students and college. May I designate my gift where I want it to go? Yes! You may direct your gift to a specific scholarship or program fund that you are passionate about, or, you may make an unrestricted gift to the PVCC Fund for Excellence. Will I receive tax benefits for my gift? The MCCF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. A gift to the campaign will receive a charitable income tax deduction in accordance with IRS regulations. Consult your tax advisor. You will receive an acknowledgement of your gifts in the mail from MCCF. How do I make a gift? You may make a one-time gift by check, credit card via gift form or securely online via credit card; or you may make a recurring gift by payroll deduction using the gift form. How much of my gift goes to the Foundation? 100% of your gift goes to the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. How will I be recognized? To recognize your generocity and support all campaign donors (except those who wish to remain anonymous) will receive a Campaign lapel pin; your name and giving level will appear on the Campaign Honor Roll web site, Campaign communications, and the MCCF annual report. All donors will receive an invitation to the annual PVCC Donor Recognition event in the fall and the Scholarship Student & Donor event in the spring. How much should I give? All gifts by employees and retirees are important and make an impact. You should give the amount the best meets your financial situation and personal charitable goals and know that all support of students is greatly appreciated. Can I make a planned gift or gift of other assets? Yes! Planned gifts, gifts of stocks/bonds, real estate, and paid insurance policies are other ways to make a difference and count in the Campaign. President Paul Dale's goal for the Campaign is simple – to increase the number of faculty, staff and retirees participating in the Campaign, at any level of giving. To that end, he has announced the first President's Match. Dr. Dale will make a gift of $100 for every new, first-time donor to the annual campaign this year – up to 20 new donors for a total personal match of up to $2,000. So, please, take him up on this offer – make 2012 your year to join us in supporting our college.
