Over the last ten years, PVCC - about every two years - has gone through periods of transition. Beginning in 2001, we experienced an organizational realignment, followed by an interim presidential term, a new president, an HLC visit, another interim presidential term, and several organizational changes. Now we need to begin the process of rededicating ourselves to the major building blocks of our system and to establish a sense of permanence. To this end, the Focus on 2014 Steering Team has been convened.
In 2014, the following critical milestones and activities will occur: end of the capital bond cycle; reaffirmation of our HLC accreditation; and Phase II construction of our Black Mountain site. In order to be prepared to address these important issues, now is the time to refocus our major planning systems.
Focus on 2014 will be an organic process during which time the Steering and work teams will think about and make recommendations about how PVCC will do its work for at least the next five years. Focus on 2014 is about building a dynamic culture for our core value of teaching and learning in a fiscally sustainable manner where leadership is aligned at all levels.
This will be a deliberate and focused process where the steering team will make recommendations to redefine our major systems of strategic planning, planning and budgeting, program review (out of class), institutional effectiveness, and our administrative organizational structure.
Mary Lou Mosley and Patti Marsh have agreed to chair the Focus on 2014 Steering Team. The Team will convene in May and continue to work through the summer. |
