Federal Work Study

Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study.

To qualify, a student must have filed the FAFSA, completed their student center 'To Do' List, and have financial need as determined by the FAFSA. A minimum enrollment of 6 credits during the semester is required. Check with PVCC's Financial Aid Office to see if you qualify.  Fall semester work schedules may begin as early as August 17, 2013 or as determined by the department.

Job Title:  America Reads, America Counts Tutor
Department:  Office of Financial Assistance
Pay Rate:  $10.00 per hour
Hours per week:  P/T, up to 20 hours/ week, between 9:00 am - 3:00 pm 

Job Duties/ Qualifications:  Tutor for Elementary school children in Reading and Math. Position is off campus, reliable transportation is required. Applicant must be reliable, have good communication skills, able to work well with children.  All applicants must comply with health and safety requirements, including but not limited to fingerprinting, background checks and health screening.

Job Duties/ Qualifications:
• Provide general office assistance to include mailings, filling and other related projects/duties
• Coordinate, schedule and conduct campus tours
• Provide quality customer services via phone and in-person
• Assist in promoting higher education/PVCC to prospective students
• Develop and maintain cooperative interaction with the Office Coordinator and all other office personnel
• Reading and processing emails
• Maintain and organize contact cards; data entry into word spread sheets, data base and/ or SIS
• Manage sufficient supplies of recruitment documents
• Initiate/order the printing of documents
• Folding brochures, applications and assembling documents
• Assist with walk-ins and answer phones as needed
• Make deliveries around campus (or community) and running errands
• Participate in telephone call center operations, including initiating calls and recording results and initiating follow up procedures
• Maintain work area and equipment in a professional clean and orderly fashion
• Other duties as assigned
