Summer Financial Aid Eligibility

Your maximum financial aid eligibility for an award year is the equivalent of two full time semesters for fall, spring, and summer.
A full time semester is a total or 12 or more credit hours.

PELL:
You may have remaining Pell Grant eligibility for the summer if:

  • You have not attended two full time semesters equaling  24 credit hours or more in fall and spring semester

Maximum Pell grant eligibility is two full time semesters which is equivalent to 100% per year and inclusive of fall, spring, and summer.

If you have not attended two full time semesters totaling 100% eligibility during the fall and spring, you could have remaining financial aid Pell grant eligibility to apply towards summer classes.

Note: All eligibility standards apply, e.g. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), minimum 6 credit hours for loans.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

  • Eligibility for financial aid funding for summer classes are subject to SAP review.  SAP will be reviewed upon conclusion of the spring 2014 semester after the posting of grades. 
  • Any student awarded financial aid for summer session that fails to meet SAP at the end of the spring semester could potentially have their summer financial aid cancelled and be responsible for full payment.

Road to success for summer sessions!
Summer sessions are fast track courses that are offered in a condensed format.   These classes require the equivalent amount of course work and studying as 16 week courses.
Note: Courses available vary from 5 week to 10 week sessions


Direct Student Loans

Book Advance

  • Book Advance information was placed on the My.maricopa.edu login page, listed under Paying for College on the left hand side of the screen at http://my.maricopa.edu/book-advances/
  • Book Advance options are found in your Student Services Center under the Finance Section.
  • To receive a Book Advance you must have an actual award greater than your charges. Some awards may not be eligible for a Book Advance.
  • Review your "Opt In" or "Opt Out" choices to ensure it reflects the correct status. If no action is taken a Book Advance may not be issued.
  • If you choose to "Opt In" your Book Advance monies will be disbursed as early as 10 business days prior to the start of your first class.
  • Book Advances will be issued through the Maricopa Student Refund Program (MSRP). Debit card or direct deposit options are the fastest ways to receive our advance. http://my.maricopa.edu/refund

*Students who appear to be eligible for federal aid and have a complete FAFSA application and supporting documents:

  • may qualify to have their tuition due date extended
  • may be considered for a book advance

Students who complete their financial aid file after the Complete File Date will still be considered for financial aid but must pay their tuition by their due date or sign up for the e-Cashier Payment Plan to avoid being dropped from classes for non-payment.

**Pell awards offered prior to the census date will not be increased for any credits added after the census date.

*** Last day to submit Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeals and Maximum Timeframe Appeals.  Requests submitted after this date will be considered for the following semester.
